Custom Domain

Instead of embedding a javascript code into your page, you will simply link to your custom subdomain (ie. events.mydomain.com) and thus all your event URLs will be based off this subdomain. This means that search engines will index your calendar’s subdomain URL and every single event URL as well, giving you increased search engine back-links and increased SEO value.

Step 1: Creating the DNS Entry

If you want to use a custom domain for your calendar, first you have to add a new DNS entry at your domain name registrar’s control panel. The DNS entry should be a CNAME of “saas.time.ly“.

Generic example:

Let’s say your domain name is mydomain.com, and you want to use the subdomain “events” to display your calendar. The DNS entry would look like:

events.mydomain.com 3600 IN CNAME saas.time.ly.

Here is a general example of what it might look like at your domain name registrar:

Godaddy Example:

Specific Instructions:

Step 2: Adding the Subdomain

Navigate to Calendar Settings > Custom Domains tab > Add a custom domain field > Enter your subdomain and click on the Save button.

Step 3: Customizing Your Calendar

When using a custom domain, of course you will want to customize the look of your calendar to match your website, by adding custom header and footer HTML codes.

You can do this under Calendar Settings > Customize tab > Header and Footer button > add your custom CSS, header and footer HTML code to the 3 boxes: Custom <HEAD> (HTML), Custom header (HTML), and Custom footer (HTML).  Click on the Save button to save the settings.
